I spent a good amount of time hand writing thank you cards today. Snail mail is something I like to send. In fact, I have a bit of an obsession with stationary, but that’s another topic for another time. Call me old fashion, but I think there’s something special about sending something in your own writing. it’s a nice break from getting bills in the mailbox or reading something on your phone or computer.
Anyway, as I was saying, I wrote over 50 cards telling my dearest friends and closest family how much it meant to me to have them be a part of the biggest day of my life. When the last card was tucked into an envelope, I felt great, productive even, (especially since I’m currently fighting a cold). That was until I stumbled upon a tweet that said “5 tips for writing thank you cards”. I clicked the link still on that “I finished my cards a few hours ago” high.
I should have just kept scrolling.
Turns out the last tip was: Be sure to send all thank you cards no later than 6 weeks after the wedding.
My immediate thought was, “WHAT?”
I got married on Labor Day weekend. Today is February 1.
